Loft conversion Richmond Kingston / Hampton / Sunbury / Walton

This client wanted to create a self contained studio flat in this loft. The area was not too big at 40m2 but we managed to design it so that everything had a place and it functions well. This required full planning as is always the case with all loft conversions in flats. There are much more things to be taken into consideration when doing an additional flat.

The floor had to meet extremely stringent design standards in order to meet building control requirements. When creating a new flat you must conform to PART E regulations of building control which basically applies to the transient sound of noise between two flats.

You must be special material between the joist and at the sides of the walls to reduce significant the travelling of sound from one flat to another. This then is independently tested by an acoustics engineer that it meets these stringent measures.
